This artwork, Metamorphosis, depicts a blend of fantastical elements, including a flamingo's head, a fish's tail, a human hand holding a wine glass, and a bathtub's cat feet transformed into human legs. The mix of reality and unreality leads the viewer into a strange, surreal experience. Maiko Kikuchi's signature use of vibrant colors adds a sense of joy and cheerfulness, preventing the piece from simply becoming cynical, while still evoking a playful and lively energy for the viewer.

This piece was exhibited in the Focus section at the internationally acclaimed art fair Frieze London, where the curator of the Focus section, a program that showcases the most innovative contemporary artists and galleries under the guidance of Frieze London’s curatorial team, invited the artist to display the work.

Additionally, it is used as the cover artwork for the single "Thought Bubbles" by the American band tree river (Label: Big Scary Monsters / UK).
